Modeling and Simulation of a Novel Low-Speed High-Torque Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor with Asymmetric Stator Slots

Focusing on the unstable electromagnetic performance of an air gap magnetic field caused by torque ripple and harmonic interference a multi-slot multi-pole low-speed high-torque permanent magnet synchronous motor (LHPMSM), asymmetric stator slot is proposed to improve comprehensive motor. Moreover, this paper develops exact analytical model which predicts distribution based Laplace’s Poisson’s equations. The asymmetry introduced into solved method separating variables. Taking 40p168s LHPMSM as example, numerical results no-load flux density distributions are obtained finite element (FEM) employed validate model. influence structure characteristics subsequently analyzed. show that, compared with semi-closed model, has better characteristics, can be significantly improved optimizing asymmetry. Finally, prototype manufactured tested theoretical analysis.
